DRAWINGS
Although I have worked in many media and styles, I found myself drawn to rendering animals time and again. As a lifelong pet owner, I decided to focus my efforts on capturing pets on paper, determined to create portraits that I, as a pet owner, would like to look at every day.

My goal is not to recreate a photograph, but instead to capture the little details that make your pet unique. This can include
Drawing Style
Drawing methods have the ability to portray another layer of your pet's personality in 2D.

Is your pet:
Rambunctious and enthusiastic?
Style: quick strokes and energetic lines
Reserved and quiet?
Style: softer lines but precise detailing
Sweet and graceful?
Style: muted colouring and high blending.

These styles will only be completed so long as they don't detract from the fidelity of the image.
Focus
To ensure that your pet is the focus of the drawing, it can be important to choose from multiple photographs; quite simply, some photos translate better into drawings.
To do this, we look at:
+ angle
+ lighting
+ depth
+ composition
+ potential for cropping
background modification.
Accuracy
The drawings are not intended to be photorealistic but instead feature a degree of stylization that emphasizes the drawing as a drawing.
However, important components must be correctly rendered:
+ colouring
+ markings
+ proportions
+ lighting
+ additional components (collars/tags, toys, linens, setting, etc.).
By reviewing these elements, an ordinary photograph can become a unique drawing. I recommend reading through the Photo Selection Tips on the Pricing + Process page for more.
